This is going to be fairly short. It's just a reminder. A good reminder for all who are in charge of children. We are called to serve children. To protect them from harm. We are not called to be popular amongst other parents or family members.
We worry about how we will be viewed by others if we go against the grain. If we have a family member who smokes, we worry about alienating them, so we allow them to smoke near our children. If we have friends who allow their children to hit others in the name of 'playing', we laugh it off to avoid the uncomfortable conversations.
Bottom line, if you don't stand up for what's right in regards to your children why would you expect them to stand up for themselves? Every moment is a teachable moment. Our children look to us to rectify wrong doings. Protect your child at all times no matter what the cost. Relationships may be severed, but wouldn't you and your spouse rather keep the relationship with your child?
