Like Mother, Like Son

One little flaw in my personality...I know, there aren't many (HA!)...is I have to watch my facial expressions towards other people. For some reason, whatever I'm thinking ends right up on my face. I've done a much better job at controlling it since I became a teacher, but still if you're wearing or doing something funky you're probably going to get a look. I'm not trying to be rude, they just pop up.

SO...Mason was coloring at the counter today while I was making his lunch and he didn't seem too happy with the way I was cooking his grilled cheese, because this was the face I got when I put it on his plate (yes, it is lunch time despite how dark it looks outside...mid-afternoon storm).
It is so funny to see how traits get passed down to your kids. My mom does this, I do it, and now Mason. Maybe Miss Addison will be spared...

Master Climber

If you have a toddler, you know that when it gets quiet you go looking. Yesterday I was cooking dinner and realized it was dead silent in the house. So I went searching. After calling and calling his name, Mason finally answered me and I found him in the bathroom...sink that is. He had gotten on his step stool, wedged his little toes on the cabinet doors, and climbed his little body in there. He was tremendously proud of himself. I have to say, I was proud too.

Earlier in the day, when he was at his babysitters, he learned how to climb out of his porta crib. I sure hope this is not a sign of him climbing out of his regular crib because I am NOT ready for him to decide when he gets up and around in the morning!

(I do promise to get some new pictures on here soon because I know I like to look at everyone else's!)

Olivetto=YUMMY

I have a student in my class this year whose dad works for Mazzio's. Apparenly, he was in charge of the starting a new chain for the company and he came up with OLIVETTO. So for a first week of school present, she brought me an invitation for four to come and have a complimentary lunch (I guess there are some perks to teaching). Let me say it was D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! It's kind of an upscale Panera meets a trendy Italian Bistro. You should definitely add it to your list if you are an Italian fan, or better yet...stay away so there's always a table available for me!

Devilish Dietitians and a Wacky Work Week

Well, went to the dietitian on Tuesday. As far as the diet goes, it's not that bad. I do have to cut out the night time 'treats' and some carbs, but for the most part we already eat like they suggest. Here's the devilish part. The dietitian I was assigned is from the devil and there's no convincing otherwise. She basically went on her soapbox that I would more than likely develop Type II diabetes when I'm older, and so will Steven since he's Hispanic. Then she went on and on about having our children tested and likelihood that they too will develop diabetes. Again, she's of the devil. Steven and I are choosing to not hear her negativity since we know our God is not the author of sickness and disease!

Now, on to my first full work week (insert swollen ankles and exhaustion here). Everything has gone pretty smoothly. Mason has transitioned smoothly back to the life of waking up early, even though Mommy has not. He has also done beautifully being away from me all day. My students are pretty sweet, and I've got just a few stinkers in the mix, but they'll be just fine once they've had a chance to test the waters. The best part of my day though is getting Mason after school. Most days I get a gigantic hug and kiss, but other days he's too busy playing to actually shell out some love...BOYS! I don't really have any new pics since we've been so busy (we've had company all week), but I promise to take some this weekend and post them...I do however have one my mom just sent me. This is Mason playing in her backyard. Well, I guess I should say, "Taking a breather in her backyard."

Not So Good News...

I got a call from the nurse at Dr. Nilson's office and I did not pass the 2nd glucose test. So they have diagnosed me with gestational diabetes. I go on Tuesday to a nutritionist to set up a meal plan and get a glucometer. I'll have to take my blood sugar four times a day to make sure it's okay. I'm not so worried about the diet part since we eat pretty healthy already, but I'm very frustrated and upset that this is even happening. Of course, everything I've read freaks me out even more. Steven has banned me from reading anymore info over the internet...probably smart. To be honest, eating anything right now freaks me out and Tuesday seems so far away. So I'm just asking for you guys to pray over Addison's health. That she would continue to grow normally, and I would be able to manage my blood sugar levels through regular diet and exercise. As long as I can do that, everything will be just fine!

Love the Baby

Mason is really into babies recently. He has a bear that he has deemed 'his baby'. Today I found him in Addie's room rocking it...very sweet. I'm just hoping this love for babies lasts once his little sister arrives. Here are some pictures of Mason loving on her.

No, he's not eating the baby...just giving raspberries.

Camera is Home...

Camera made it home this past weekend, and I have to say I'm a little envious of its journeys! The pictures from the Turks and Caicos are nothing short of AMAZING! Rene and Lindsay had a wonderful time on their 'babymoon' and they're getting down to business to prepare for Little Lincoln. We are so excited to meet him.

*NOTE* this is an actual picture from their trip...I just want to jump in!

Now that you've seen the beauty of this blog, it's time for the BEAST...

I'm just now at 29 weeks and went to my appointment yesterday. Addison is finally in launch position and will make her debut whenever she darn well pleases. We finally got a great ultrasound of her face and it is amazing to see how much her features look like Mason's (now we'll have to wait on the coloring). Dr. Nilson says she's growing fine and still measuring large. I'm hoping this means she's coming early and not that I'm going to have to push out a large baby!

Mommy on the other hand is feeling like a fat, tired, sweaty cow. The heat is unbearable. I've been getting up early just so I can walk before 8:00...otherwise I'm miserable. Mason doesn't seem to mind the heat at all. I think the kid would live outside if we pitched a tent for him. So we've been having a battle of the wills. Let me tell you, the pregnant lady wins. When it's time to come in, WE'RE COMING IN!

Mason is still going potty. Not on a regular basis, but he'll usually pee on the potty at least once a day. He gets so excited for himself. It's pretty funny. His new interest is Daddy reading to him. Pretty ironic that his mommy is a teacher and he doesn't want to hear stories from me...little stinker! Below is Mason and Daddy reading...
